The U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Training Team offers free, live virtual trainings for coaches and administrators within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement on the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP).

Learning Objectives

Learners who complete the training will:

  • Learn about the Center and our role in ending abuse in sport
  • Review their role and responsibilities according to the MAAPP
  • Understand MAAPP policies, including organizational, education, and one-on-one interaction requirements
  • Discuss realistic ways to implement the MAAPP
  • Explore resources for preventing and responding to abuse

 

*Please note that this training does not replace the SafeSport® Trained Core or the annual Refresher training requirement.

This training is ideal for Adult Participants in the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement (the Movement) who want to learn how the MAAPP impacts their role in sport and how to implement the policies. This training is especially useful for:

  • New members to the Movement
  • People who recently turned 18 and have new responsibilities as Adult Participants
  • Anyone needing a refresher or information on changes to the MAAPP

No, this training does not replace your annual SafeSport® Trained Core or Refresher online course. As a reminder, all Adult Participants in the Movement who have authority over or Regular Contact with Minor Athletes must take annual training. Live trainings are available in addition to your annual online course.

Repetition and active engagement are key to understanding how to end abuse in sport. MAAPP training helps to deepen your understanding of policies and practices that keep athletes safe and reduce the risk of abuse. At each workshop, we will reinforce critical concepts, offer realistic scenarios, and answer any questions you have.
